FAQs for Charities

1. Why is SimplyGiving closing?

After 10 years of supporting charities and communities, SimplyGiving is closing as part of a strategic direction. This was a difficult decision, and we are deeply grateful for your trust and partnership throughout this journey.

2. When will 1.0 and 2.0 platforms be shut down?

  • 1.0: 12 September 2025 – donation buttons, campaigns, and recurring donations will stop.
  • 2.0: 31 October 2025 – donation buttons, campaigns, and recurring donations will stop.

3. What will happen to active campaigns after closure?

All campaigns will be taken offline on the closure dates above. After that, donations cannot be made through SimplyGiving.

4. What happens to recurring/regular donations?

  • For 1.0, the last regular donation will be processed on 12 September 2025.
  • For 2.0, the last regular donation will be processed on 31 October 2025.
  • No action is required from you or your donors; payments will stop automatically.

5. How do I download my charity, campaign, and donor data?

You will have access to download your data during a specific window:

  • 1.0: Until 22 September 2025
  • 2.0: Until 7 November 2025
  • Log into your dashboard before these dates to download your records.

6. What happens if I miss the data export window?

After the export window closes, SimplyGiving will no longer provide access to dashboards or campaign data. Please make sure to download your information within the timeframe.

7. I have an outstanding balance under SimplyGiving 1.0, What are the next steps?

There is no change to the current process, our Finance team will reimburse balances on the usual settlement dates. If you have an outstanding balance and have not yet been contacted by our Finance team, please email your details to cs@simplygiving.com.

8. Do I need to inform my donors about the closure?

Yes, we recommend you notify your regular donors that recurring donations will stop on your platform’s closure date. SimplyGiving will also contact donors directly, but hearing it from you provides additional clarity.

9. What if I wish to migrate to 2.0 or I've migrated recently?

Migration is no longer necessary, as both platforms will be closing. If you have already migrated to 2.0, you may continue operating as usual until 31 October 2025.

10. Will there be any charges or fees during the closure period?

No. Once campaigns and donations stop, no further charges or fees will apply.

11. Who do I contact if I face issues exporting data or requesting refunds?

Please contact us at cs@simplygiving.com or via chat. Our team is here to support you during this transition.

12. Will you recommend an alternative fundraising platform?

We are not in a position to recommend a specific alternative platform, as it’s important that each charity chooses a solution that best fits its own needs and compliance requirements. We encourage you to review the available options carefully, paying particular attention to fees, security, and transparency, so you can make the most informed decision for your organisation.
